Jon Payson is a Senior Advisor to CamberView Partners.
Mr. Payson is a former Senior Vice President and Partner of Wellington Management Company, one of the oldest and largest independent global asset managers in the world. During his 22-year career at the firm, Mr. Payson served in a variety of management roles, among them President and Chair of the Board at Wellington Trust Company, NA, a $25 billion national trust bank serving 900 corporate and non-profit clients; Director of Institutional Relationship Management, working with corporate, philanthropic and sovereign institutions around the world on investment governance and administration; and Director of Corporate Operations.
In his role as Director of Corporate Operations, Mr. Payson had oversight responsibility for the corporate governance and proxy functions of the firm and served as Chair of the firm’s global Corporate Governance Committee. In this capacity he revamped and globalized the firm’s Proxy and Corporate Governance policies, and the Corporate Governance Group, enlisting legal, relationship management, operations, and investment professional staff from across the firm’s global offices to work with clients, company boards and management, and other interested parties on governance policy and engagement issues.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Payson worked for eight years with a privately held NYSE member firm in New York City.
A former Marine Corps Officer and veteran of the Persian Gulf War, Mr. Payson holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University in Economics and Political Science.
